Design Is Not Just What It Looks Like. Design Is How It Works.

Egowall gives you the tools to create a rich online environment which best represents your real self - one that anyone can visit at any time.

To do so, we provide you with access to 16 unique 3D living spaces as well as hundreds of custom furniture items (available in several styles).

In this blog post, we want to provide some information on how to manage those furniture assets with the spaces via the following short videos and accompanying text.

In the subsections below we will be discussing the following:

  • Placing Furniture Objects

  • Cloning Furniture Objects

  • Removing Furniture Objects

Placing Furniture Objects

"Placing” refers to the act of placing a 3D furniture object in a legal location (i.e., one allowed by the game's physics) within a room.

To place a furniture object follow these steps:

  1. Click the Inventory button at lower left of the user interface.

  2. Using the available drop down menus, navigate to the desired Theme / Furniture type (e.g., Contemporary | Seating).

  3. Click on one of the furniture objects to display its Furniture Detail Panel.

  4. Click the Add to Space button, which highlights the Move button on the Palette Menu and opens the Grid Snapping Menu.

  5. Click on the desired Grid Snapping resolution (Large/Medium/Small/Off).

  6. Place the object by moving the cursor to the desired destination spot and clicking there.

  7. After initial placement, you can tweak the location of the object by

    • clicking-and-dragging on the X, Y, or Z axis arrows to move the object along those axes, OR

    • clicking on the cube in the center of the X/Y/Z axis arrows and dragging to move the object freely in the space.

  8. Once you've settled on the final position for the object, click anywhere in the UI to place it; that action will clear the arrows and the Grid Snapping menu. The Move button remains selected.

Cloning Furniture Objects

We make it easy for you when you want to place a second (or third, or …) copy of a particular furniture piece in a room. You can quickly pull from inventory or buy one on the spot if you don’t already own one.

To clone/duplicate a furniture object placed in the currently occupied room, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Clone button on the Palette Toolbar or type the "c"/"C" shortcut key.

  2. Click on the desired object.

  3. If you already own at least one more unplaced instance of the selected object

    • Click on the desired Grid Snapping resolution (Large/Medium/Small/Off)

    • Move the cursor away from the selected object and a copy of it (pulled from your existing inventory) will appear

    • Click on the spot where you want to place the cloned object

    • After initial placement, if you want to tweak the location of the placed object, you can do so by

      • clicking-and-dragging on the X, Y, or Z axis arrows to move the object along that axis, OR

      • clicking on the cube in the center of the X/Y/Z axis arrows to move the object freely in the space

    • Once you've settled on the proper position for the object, click anywhere in the UI to place it, which will also clear the arrows and the Grid Snapping menu.

  4. If you do not already own at least one more unplaced instance of the selected object

    • Click on the Buy Now button to purchase another instance of the object

    • Click on the Add to Space button

    • Click on the desired Grid Snapping resolution (Large/Medium/Small/Off)

    • Click on the spot where you want to place the cloned object

    • After initial placement, if you want to tweak the location of the placed object, you can do so by

      • clicking-and-dragging on the X, Y, or Z axis arrows to move the object along that axis, OR

      • clicking on the cube in the center of the X/Y/Z axis arrows to move the object freely in the space

    • Once you've settled on the final position for the object, click anywhere in the UI to place it, which will also clear the arrows and the Grid Snapping menu.

Removing Furniture Objects

When it’s time to redecorate a room in your living space(s), you need a place for that old furniture. No need to turn to Goodwill. Just return any placed object to your inventory.

To remove a furniture object from a room follow these steps.

  1. Click on the Rebox button on the Palette Toolbar or type the "x"/"X" shortcut key.

  2. Click on the desired object. It will immediately be returned to inventory.

  3. Verify its return to inventory by clicking the Inventory button and using the available drop down menus to navigate to the object’s Theme / Furniture type.

Study The Past And Divine The Future - 2018 In Review

Welcome to 2019!

Urban Studio Living Space Beauty Shot

At the beginning of a new year, it’s common for businesses to take a look back at what their followers liked (and didn’t like) in social media posts shared during the year just ended.

In so doing, they can gain insight into what resonated - and didn’t - with their current and (hopefully future) customers, and use that analytical data to guide their future social media marketing efforts.

Well, we’re no different. The purpose of this post is to share our top 5 social media posts from 2018 for each of Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Orbital Deck Interior (Animated)

What the results tell us is that video is popular (no surprise there) and there is still a lot of interest in our unique 3D living spaces, which is great.

In each table below, we list the posts in reverse order, include an excerpt from the post, and provide a link to the actual post so you can see it in its native habitat.

Take a look at where we’ve been, and follow us on the journey to where we’re going next. It’s going to be exciting.

How Lovely Are Thy (Digital) Branches

O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree
How lovely are thy branches.
O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree
How lovely are thy branches.

Your boughs so green in summertime
Stay bravely green in wintertime
O tannenbaum, o Christmas tree
How lovely are thy branches.

It seems appropriate that our final weekly post on the most popular images on our Instagram feed features a Christmas tree.

While flocked trees in the real world are indeed beautiful, they can also be quite messy.

Of course, that's not a problem in the digital environment of Egowall.

The Christmas Tree - White image seen at right is one of two holiday trees in our collection of seasonal décor items.

You'll also find nutcrackers, stockings, sleds, ornaments and gift boxes there. In fact, the ornaments can be easily added to the tree to make any room more festive.

Add them - or any of our digital goods - to your own living spaces by making a quick stop in our store, which is accessible from anywhere in the Egowall game.

We hope you have enjoyed seeing all of our Christmas-themed furniture objects, which we have been sharing on Instagram and our other social platforms during December.

This is our final blog post of the year. We hope that you and yours are having a joyous holiday season and that you get every gift that you wanted.

Be please be careful not to shoot your eye out.

See you in 2017.

What You Do After The Bear Eats You

"[S]ometimes you eat the bar, sometimes the bar eats you."

- The Stranger in The Big Lebowski (1998).

That's sort of what happened to us last week when there was so much going on that we were unable to complete our scheduled Most Popular on Instagram post.

But we're making up for that by highlighting two images (well, one image and one video) this time around - one for each of the last TWO weeks.

Week Ending November 6, 2016

This week's image (seen at right) was a diptych of our Contemporary Showroom 2 space.

This showroom style is a large urban spacethat is nearly 1.5 times the size of the Contemporary Showroom.

Its characteristics are as follows:

Theme: Contemporary
Rooms: 1
Square Footage: 6186
Cost: 400 Ego Points
Default Entry Room: Showroom

It includes a fully open floor with no walls or dividers, with a wide floor-to-ceiling window on the highway side of the space to allow entry of natural light.

And if you wish, you can use our construction tools to break this expansive area into smaller and more manageable areas.

Once you've designed and assembled your own showroom space, it's easy to make it (or any other type of living space) public so that any of your friends or family can visit.

We invite you to visit the Egowall Kitchen and Dining Showroom to get a better feel for what the Contemporary Showroom 2 looks like.

Week Ending November 13, 2016

One of the most popular playlists on our YouTube Channel is the list of ten videos which illustrate Egowall's key features.

One of them took the honor this week as our most engaged Instagram post.

By entering Customization Mode, Egowall users are able to change the physical appearance of nearly every surface in a living space.

After enabling this mode, just click on the area you wish to modify to select it.

Then use the scrollable Customization Menu to specify the new color or material for that surface.

Click the Apply button and the change is immediate.

Lather, rinse, and repeat until you have made all your desired modifications.

We provide you with the canvas - it's up to you to complete the painting and make the space truly your own.

Don't forget to check out the rest of our Feature Videos to learn more about the power of Egowall to help you showcase your life's memories and achievements.

We're posting images (and videos) like these daily on Instagram (and Pinterest) to expose them - and Egowall - to a larger audience.

Check out any of the resources mentioned in the post to see more just like them. And be sure to follow us on Instagram to see each new image when it is posted.

And you could help us get the word out by sharing your favorites on Instagram and your other social networks.
